Children's Community Nurse
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated band 5 paediatric nurse who is committed to providing quality nursing care in line with the Northern Care Alliance Trust values.
The service comprises a proactive team of nurses providing nursing care and family support to children with chronic and complex needs, palliative care, long‑term ventilated children and those with acute nursing needs.
The post requires excellent communication and time‑management skills, the ability to prioritise workload and respond to unexpected demands.

Main duties
The successful candidate will receive an individualised and structured orientation programme to develop the high‑level skills and knowledge required to assess, implement and evaluate care needs across varied settings such as the child’s home, clinics, schools and nursery, working autonomously.
Regular coordinated supervision and feedback will be provided to support a service ethos centred on placing children, young people and families first.

Person specification
Professional registration
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Part 1 Adult / General Level 1 or 2)
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse – RN – Child / RSCN
* Degree / Diploma in Nursing studies or equivalent
* Mentorship of students qualification
Knowledge and skills
* Knowledge and skills relating to children with lifelong needs.
* Sound knowledge and experience of general children’s clinical procedures based on research evidence.
* Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in teaching and mentoring.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a DBS check to assess any previous convictions.
The post is open to those holding a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those enrolled on a course expecting to receive their full NMC PIN within the next three months.
We can no longer accept applications from international nurses and midwives who have not yet completed all competencies required to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK, as the OSCE programme is currently paused indefinitely.
