Attendance Officer – Primary School (Wakefield) Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity | Driver Essential | 8:00am – 3:00pm Leader Education are recruiting an experienced and proactive Attendance Officer to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Wakefield. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm position, where the successful candidate will transition onto a permanent contract with the school after a 12-week agency period. Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential, as home visits will form part of your responsibilities. The Role You will play a key role in improving pupil attendance and supporting families to ensure children are accessing education regularly. Responsibilities include: Monitoring and tracking pupil attendance and punctuality Making daily calls to parents/carers regarding absences Conducting home visits to support attendance and engagement Building positive relationships with families and pupils Working closely with senior leaders and safeguarding teams Maintaining accurate attendance records and reports Supporting with general administrative duties within the school This is a varied role that combines pastoral support, safeguarding awareness, and administrative responsibilities. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Organised, proactive, and confident working independently Comfortable communicating with parents and families Able to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy Experienced in an administrative or school-based role (desirable) Confident using school systems or general IT systems A driver with access to their own vehicle (essential) Committed to a long-term role with progression into a permanent position Experience within education, safeguarding, or attendance roles is highly desirable but not essential.
