Data Platform Lead | Microsoft Fabric | Data Governance | Strategy
Hybrid | Central London (2 days per week)
£100-110,000 + bonus + benefits
I’m working with one of the UK’s most respected financial institutions as they look to bring in a senior data leader to take ownership of how data is safely and effectively put into the hands of the business.
This isn’t a typical data role.
It’s about setting the direction for data enablement across the organisation, owning the platform, and making sure data is used responsibly, securely, and with real business value.
The role
You’ll sit within the Technology and Transformation function and take ownership of the organisation’s Data Labs, which operate as an internal data platform product.
They’re live. They’re being used.
But now they need proper ownership, stronger governance, and a clear long term direction.
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across finance, data science, AI engineering, and the wider business. The focus is making data accessible, without compromising on risk, control, or regulatory expectations.
You’ll also lead a small team supporting multiple active labs.
The role is roughly 70 percent strategy and 30 percent hands on, so you’ll spend most of your time shaping direction, standards, adoption, and roadmap, while still being close enough to the technology to guide decisions, challenge effectively, and stay credible with engineering teams.
What they’re looking for
Someone who has come from a hands on data background, whether that’s engineering or development, and has moved into owning platforms, products, or self service analytics capabilities.
You’ll need to be comfortable operating at a senior level, working across both technical and non technical stakeholders, and bringing structure to how data is governed and used.
Experience in regulated environments is important, as is a strong understanding of data governance, risk, and controls.
Line management experience is expected, along with the ability to build and develop teams.
Exposure to Microsoft data technologies is key, and experience with Databricks would be a big plus.
Some exposure to AI and advanced analytics would also be valuable, particularly the ability to make informed, pragmatic recommendations.
Why this role
This is a genuinely senior opportunity where you’ll shape how a major financial institution uses data for years to come.
You’ll define the strategy, own the governance, and play a key role in how data is enabled across the business.
