Description
We are looking for an ICP Cable Jointer to carry out jointing of LV cables and perform underground cable fault location, testing, and repair on both DNO and private networks in accordance with ICP regulations and Marlborough Highways’ safety and quality standards. This is an opportunity for someone with some great experience and enthusiasm to join our great team in covering North London and Essex.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out jointing and termination of LV distribution cables.
* Conduct underground cable fault location using methods such as TDR, thumper, and sheath fault detection.
* Accurately diagnose, locate, and repair cable faults on both mains and service cables.
* Carry out cable testing, spiking, and commissioning works as part of new installations or repairs.
* Ensure all works are performed in line with current DNO/G81 specifications, ICP requirements, and health & safety regulations.
* Complete all necessary paperwork, reports, and test documentation accurately and promptly.
* Communicate effectively with supervisors, site managers, and clients to ensure smooth delivery of projects.
* Operate safely around plant and equipment, including excavators and winches.
* Ensure correct use and maintenance of tools, vehicles, and test equipment.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
* Proven experience in LV cable jointing and fault location.
* NRSWA Street Works operative card (minimum units 1-6 and 9).
* ECS / CSCS card.
* EUSR SHEA Power.
* Full UK driving license.
* Knowledge of DNO standards and G81 specifications.
* Understanding of Health & Safety, risk assessments, and method statements.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexibility to work overtime.
Desirable
* Experience working under an Independent Connection Provider (ICP).
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (for testing and inspection).
* Previous work experience with UKPN or other DNOs.
