What you will do:
- Deliver comprehensive respiratory services, covering both outpatient clinics and inpatient care
- Manage a variety of respiratory conditions, including COPD, asthma, lung cancer, and interstitial lung disease
- Participate in the Acute/General Medicine rota (if applicable) to support wider medical needs
- Perform and supervise key procedures, such as bronchoscopy and pleural interventions
- Engage in regular ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings, including the lung cancer MDT
- Contribute actively to the development of respiratory services and integrated care pathways
- Lead clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service quality
- Provide mentorship and supervision to junior doctors and medical students, ensuring the growth of future talents
- Facilitate departmental and Trust-wide educational activities and research opportunities
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Collaborate with a diverse team, including respiratory nurse specialists, physiotherapists, and oncologists
- Foster relationships with community and primary care services for integrated patient care
Essential qualifications include a MBBS or equivalent with full registration and a license to practice with the General Medical Council. Applicants should have entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine or be within six months of CCT. You will need broad experience in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine, with competencies in bronchoscopy and pleural procedures. Strong clinical judgement and teamwork skills are essential.
