Job Overview:

We are looking for one or two art teachers to join us at The Art Room.

As a Part-Time Art Teacher at The Art Room, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality art lessons to students of all ages (toddlers through to adults). You will provide a fun and supportive environment where students can explore various art techniques, develop their skills, and express their creativity. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching a variety of age groups and will be comfortable adapting lessons to meet the needs and abilities of diverse students.

Key Responsibilities:

* Plan and deliver art lessons: Develop age-appropriate lesson plans for a variety of student groups (toddlers, children, teens, adults) that incorporate a range of media and techniques (e.g., drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media).
* Create a positive learning environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity and express themselves without judgment.
* Adapt lessons to individual needs: Tailor instruction to suit students' abilities and interests, ensuring each individual has the opportunity to grow at their own pace.
* Provide feedback and support: Offer constructive, thoughtful feedback to students, guiding them in their artistic development while celebrating their progress.
* Prepare and organise materials: Ensure all art materials are ready and organised for each class. Work with the studio coordinator to maintain stock of supplies and ensure everything is safe and ready for use.
* Encourage a sense of community: Build positive relationships with students, parents (if applicable), and other staff members. Organise and promote community art events, exhibitions, or workshops as appropriate.
* Classroom management: Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for students. Ensure that safety protocols and studio guidelines are followed at all times.
* Stay current with trends: Keep up-to-date with current trends and developments in the art world to bring fresh ideas and innovative techniques to the classroom.

Qualifications:

* Experience: Prior teaching experience (art or related field) preferred, particularly with children, teens, and adults. A background in studio art, education, or a related field is an advantage.
* Skills: Strong communication skills, creativity, and the ability to engage and inspire students of all ages. Ability to manage and teach diverse groups, adapting lessons as needed.
* Personal Attributes: Patient, approachable, and enthusiastic. Passion for art and teaching is essential.
* Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings as needed to accommodate the class schedule.
* Knowledge of Materials: Familiarity with a wide range of art supplies, tools, and techniques used in different forms of visual arts.

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to a range of skill levels and artistic interests.

* Teach various techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art mediums.
* Encourage students to express their creativity while providing constructive feedback on their work.
* Organise art exhibitions to showcase student projects and promote community engagement.
* Maintain an orderly and safe classroom environment, ensuring all materials are used responsibly.
* Collaborate with colleagues to integrate art into other subjects and school events.
* Assess student progress and provide reports on their development in artistic skills.

Experience

* A degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field is preferred.
* Previous teaching experience, particularly in an educational setting, is highly advantageous.
* Strong knowledge of various art techniques and materials.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire students of all ages.
