Overview

Part Time Business Support Administrator – Fixed Term, Part Time

Salary: £25,081 to £27,812 per annum (full-time equivalent). Location: Chelmsford. Working Style: Anywhere worker. Closing Date: Sunday 19 October 2025 at 11.59pm.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual to join our Corporate Core Business Support Team based in Chelmsford on a fixed-term basis. This role supports the Trading Standards Team by delivering high-quality administrative support to colleagues, partners, and the public. Responsibilities

* Providing efficient and effective administrative support across a variety of business activities.
* Managing your own workload and resolving queries independently, using initiative and judgement.
* Working on your own initiative, proactively resolving problems, and exploring ways to provide services more effectively.
* Leading on simple process reviews and contributing to more complex projects.
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of systems, processes, and standards.
* General administrative support, responding to ad-hoc requests, and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
* Delivering administrative support for the Food Registration process, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and promptly.
* Collaborating closely with Trading Standards Officers, maintaining clear communication and supporting their operational needs.
* Specific individual and shared targets and objectives defined annually within the performance management framework.


Role and Requirements

About You

* Educated to RQF Level 2 (GCSE), including Maths and English, or an equivalent vocational qualification or demonstrable experience.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to learning through theory and practice.
* Clear verbal, electronic, and written communication skills.
* Customer service skills, including de-escalation and resilience in challenging environments, face-to-face and remote.
* Computer literacy with advanced knowledge of relevant software and systems; ability to explore new technology.
* Basic continuous improvement methodology and a curious mindset.
* Thorough knowledge of document management processes and information security legislation.
* Ability to maintain a high degree of quality and accuracy in all work.
* Good time management and the ability to prioritise work for self and others.
* Ability to communicate in a manner easily understood and tailored to the audience.
