JOB OVERVIEW:
The Physical Security Supervisor supports the delivery of a robust and professional physical security operation, helping to protect the bank’s people, premises, assets, and reputation. Reporting to the Security Manager, and assuming deputy responsibilities when required, the role supervises daily security activities and ensures standards are consistently applied in line with policies and procedures. The Physical Security Supervisor provides frontline leadership to security officers, overseeing access control, CCTV monitoring, patrols, and alarm response. The role acts as an initial escalation point for incidents and operational issues, coordinating effective responses and ensuring accurate reporting and follow‑up.Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, the Physical Security Supervisor contributes to risk mitigation, continuous improvement, and the promotion of a strong security culture. The role requires sound judgement, clear communication, and a professional approach aligned with the bank’s regulatory and ethical standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Physical Security Operations
• Supervise the delivery of day‑to‑day physical security operations to protect the bank’s people, premises, assets, and reputation, ensuring a safe and compliant environment across all locations.
• Oversee the effective use of electronic security systems, including CCTV, access control, and intruder, ensuring monitoring activities and responses are conducted in line with procedures and SIA standards.
• Administer access control processes, including issuing, amending, and revoking access credentials, maintaining accurate records and escalation of anomalies.
• Coordinate internal and external patrol activities, allocating duties to security officers to identify and report risks, hazards, or security breaches.
• Ensure compliance with bank security instructions, including clear desk and secure working practices.
• Act as a trained fire warden when required, supporting evacuations and safety procedures.
Incident and Emergency Response
• Act as a first point of escalation for security incidents, ensuring timely response, accurate reporting, and appropriate communication with stakeholders.
• Review incident documentation and statements for accuracy and completeness prior to onward submission.
• Support fraud prevention and customer verification controls in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure that all tasks are provided and maintained within agreed SLA’s, KPI’s, bank policy, external quality accreditations and evidence accordingly.
Customer, Visitor and Service Delivery
• Support secure and professional handling of out‑of‑hours customer interactions in line with regulatory expectations.
• Supervise visitor management and event security arrangements to ensure a controlled and welcoming environment.
• Oversee the day-to-day car park and perimeter operations, providing guidance to colleagues and partners.
Staff Supervision and Development
• Provide day‑to‑day supervision, coaching, and guidance to security officers, promoting professional conduct and SIA compliance, while managing daily staffing levels, rotas, and cover for sickness, absence, and lateness.
• Deliver briefings and debriefings to maintain awareness of risks, procedures, and operational priorities.
• Identify training needs and support ongoing competence and licence compliance.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
• Support the Security Manager by ensuring the team maintain service standards, highlight risks, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to health and safety reporting, risk assessments, and procedural updates.
• Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in adapting to evolving threats, systems, and operational requirements.
• Support the review of processes and procedures alongside the FM Leadership Team.
• Support the business through accurate data collection and reporting and oversee quality assurance testing of critical security technology to maintain system integrity, performance, and compliance.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Security Control Room Supervision: Proven experience supervising security control room operations, including the effective monitoring of CCTV, access control, alarms, and intercom systems, in line with documented escalation and response procedures.
• Corporate Security Experience: Demonstrated experience delivering professional physical security services within corporate or financial environments, maintaining discretion and high service standards.
• Patrol and Site Oversight: Experience coordinating internal and external patrols, recording observations, and escalating identified risks or hazards in accordance with procedures.
• IT and Reporting Skills: Advanced knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams and security systems (Genetec) for incident logging, report writing, and maintaining accurate records.
• Compliance and Documentation: Experience maintaining security logs and incident documentation to support audits, investigations, KPIs, SLAs, and regulatory requirements.
• Supervisory Capability: Experience providing day‑to‑day supervision, guidance, and support to security officers, promoting professionalism, teamwork, and SIA compliance.
• Communication Skills: Highly proficient in spoken and written English and be a strong communicator, with the ability to produce accurate and professional reports.
• Operational Resilience: Demonstrates sound judgement and composure when managing incidents or responding to emergencies.
• Customer Focus: Delivers a professional and customer‑focused security presence while enforcing corporate standards.
• Adaptability: Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and procedures, supporting continuous improvement and operational change.

Required:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the corporate security sector and at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• BTEC Level 3 Control Room Supervisor Qualification or equivalent.
• Valid Frontline SIA Licence (Door Supervisor / Close Protection, and CCTV Operator).
• Right to work in the UK with a verifiable employment history.
• No current criminal convictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Valid First Aid Certificate.
• IOSH. The successful candidate should be willing to work towards IOSH within the first 18 months of being in the role.
• Experience working with Genetec Security Systems.
