Registered Nurse Opportunities in Outpatient Services – Palliative and Community Care This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and empathetic Registered Nurse to join the Outpatient Services team at St Luke’s Hospice. You will work collaboratively to provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, serving individuals attending our specialist clinics and day services. As part of our commitment to holistic care, you will make a vital contribution to improving the quality of life for those facing life-limiting conditions and supporting their families. Main Duties and Responsibilities Deliver safe, effective, and person-centred nursing assessments and clinical interventions for outpatients in line with hospice policies, national guidelines, and NMC standards. Undertake health assessments, plan and implement care interventions, and evaluate outcomes in partnership with patients, families, and the wider healthcare team. Administer medications, provide symptom management, and support clinical procedures within designated outpatient and community settings. Work collaboratively with other professionals, including doctors, therapists, and social workers, to ensure continuity, communication, and coordinated care plans. Offer emotional support, information, and practical advice to patients and their families, including engaging in sensitive discussions around advance care planning and palliative needs. Promote best practice in infection prevention, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance across all care delivery areas. Maintain accurate, timely documentation and contribute to care planning using electronic patient record systems. Participate in clinical handovers, outpatient clinics, case reviews, and relevant training and development activities. Champion the values and mission of St Luke’s Hospice in all professional interactions. Salary, Contract, and Working Arrangements Salary: £30,423 per year to £36,355 per year, full time equivalent (£18,254 to £21,813 per year, actual based on part time hours) Contract: Part-time 22.5 hours, working Monday to Friday Location: Basildon Hospice Essential Requirements Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) as an Adult Nurse (RN). Recent experience in a clinical, community, palliative, or outpatient nursing environment. Demonstrated ability to provide safe, high-quality, and culturally competent care for individuals with complex needs. Effective communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills, sensitive to individual and family circumstances. Competence in record keeping, clinical documentation, and IT systems for patient management. Willingness to work flexibly as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team. Desirable Criteria Previous experience in palliative, hospice, oncology, or chronic disease outpatient settings. Post-registration qualification or training in palliative or community nursing. Knowledge of holistic and symptom management approaches, including psychosocial and spiritual care needs. Understanding of advance care planning, safeguarding, and family/carer support in outpatient environments. Experience of working in group education, rehabilitation, or supportive care clinics.
