About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, adaptable and experienced Specialist SEN Teacher to join a supportive school in Felixstowe.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, inclusive education for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring all learners can thrive and achieve their full potential.
About the Role
As a Specialist SEN Teacher, you will:
Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching for pupils with a wide range of complex SEND needs
Plan, adapt and implement engaging lessons across all areas of need including communication and interaction, cognition and learning, SEMH, and physical development
Assess, monitor and track pupil progress, ensuring strong outcomes for all learners
Support the development of inclusive practice across the school
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, parents, and external professionals
Contribute to the wider school community and enrichment opportunities
Uphold and promote the values and ethos of the Trust
Key Responsibilities
Specialist Provision
Lead on the identification, assessment and support of pupils with SEND in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
Monitor and report on provision and progress, maintaining accurate records
Provide guidance, training and support to staff to promote inclusive practice
Liaise with multi-agency professionals, including educational psychologists and external services
Contribute to EHCP assessments and reviews
Support transitions between educational settings
Lead or contribute to pupil-focused meetings, ensuring pupil and family voice is heard
Support and develop teaching staff and teaching assistants to improve SEN provision
Promote inclusion and equal opportunities across the school
General Teaching Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality teaching in line with the Teachers’ Standards
Support school improvement priorities and self-evaluation processes
Maintain high expectations of behaviour and achievement
Work collaboratively as part of a wider teaching team
Effectively deploy and manage teaching assistants within the classroom
Create a stimulating and well-organised learning environment
Participate fully in school life, including assemblies and events
Class Teacher Responsibilities
Plan and deliver an inclusive, personalised curriculum
Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records
Provide regular feedback and reports to parents and senior leaders
Build strong relationships with parents/carers
Liaise closely with the SENDCo and safeguarding leads
Manage and support additional adults within the classroom
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Relevant teaching qualification and strong subject knowledge
Experience working with pupils with SEND (desirable)
Evidence of improving pupil outcomes
Skills & Attributes
Strong leadership and organisational skills
Ability to lead and support inclusive teaching practices
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
A proactive, solution-focused and adaptable approach
Commitment to inclusion, equality and pupil wellbeing

You will be expected to contribute to whole-school development and improvement
Ongoing CPD and training opportunities will be provided
The role includes working closely with external agencies and multi-disciplinary teams
