Role Purpose
Manage a portfolio of private client tax compliance matters, ensuring timely completion of MTD quarterly reporting, Final Declarations, and Self-Assessment tax returns. Lead and mentor junior staff, maintain client relationships, drive business development, and embed new technology and quality control processes within the team.
Responsibilities
* Responsibility for managing your own client portfolio, being the main point of contact for those clients and ensuring completion of any related MTD quarterly reporting, Final Declarations and Self-Assessment tax returns by the relevant filing deadlines each year.
* Responsibility for following AAB Tax Compliance processes, as well as other internal processes required in the performance of your duties. This includes the use of technology to improve efficiency within the business, maintaining accurate client data, and the accurate and real time completion of timesheets and all workflow / job management tools.
* Financial Management of own portfolio including review and management of own WIP, proposals for new work, raising fees and proposing fee uplifts for additional work where required.
* Identifying opportunities for additional work within your client portfolio and cross‑selling services as and when required.
* Meeting targets for winning new work as set by the leadership team each year.
* Reviewing work prepared by junior team members, including complex reviews for other team members where it is within your skillset.
* Undertaking the preparation of ad hoc advisory work arising within your own client portfolio, including but not limited to real time CGT reporting, remuneration planning, CGT calculations, trust registrations etc.
* Liaising and working with the Tax Advisory team and other Business Units including but not limited to BAG, as and when required.
* Line management responsibilities for junior members of the team.
* Mentoring, support and training junior members of the team to aid their development and career progression opportunities.
* Undertaking business development both internally and externally, including attending local and office based networking events with a view to increasing awareness of AAB and the tax compliance function within the local area.
* Help embed change and the use of new technology within AAB processes.
* Assist the Head of Compliance in undertaking quarterly Quality Control Reviews (QCR) on work prepared within the compliance team to ensure adherence to processes, help identify training needs for the team and to maintain AAB quality standards.
Experience & qualifications
Essential
* CTA or other tax relevant qualification
* At least 3 years tax compliance experience in a Manager role or higher.
* Experience line managing people and / teams.
Desirable
* Experience using CCH Personal Tax and related applications.
* Good knowledge in the use of Excel and Word.
