An established and growing PE backed manufacturing business is seeking a technically strong Financial Controller to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to step into a role with broad exposure, responsibility, and the chance to make real impact in a hands-on environment.
The Role
As Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial information, driving robust financial controls, and supporting both statutory reporting and audit processes. Working closely with the CFO, you will also contribute to budgeting, cashflow forecasting, and operational financial analysis across production and procurement.
This is a great opportunity for someone with solid technical accounting skills who is keen to develop further within a manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
Produce routine financial reports, journals, reconciliations and month-end schedules
Support the preparation of statutory accounts in line with relevant accounting standards
Liaise with external auditors and provide required documentation
Contribute to month-end and year-end close processes
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and updating financial models
Oversee accuracy of AP/AR transactions
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with finance policies
Provide financial insight to operational, production, and procurement teams
Skills & Experience
Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
Strong grounding in financial and management accounting
Experience in statutory reporting or audit (beneficial, not essential)
Clear understanding of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements
Confident in financial analysis with the ability to communicate findings clearly
Strong time-management skills and ability to meet recurring deadlines
Collaborative approach, comfortable working within a small team
Willingness to learn and adapt to manufacturing finance processes (e.g., cost accounting, inventory valuation)
Technical Competencies
Ability to prepare statutory accounts and supporting schedules
Understanding of audit processes and control frameworks
Solid technical accounting knowledge, including double-entry and financial statements
Strong spreadsheet skills and experience with reporting tools
Familiarity with accounting/ERP systems (manufacturing environments advantageous)
