Vickerstock are working in partnership with a multinational company on the appointment of a Senior Strategic Buyer on a full-time permanent basis ( 40 hours). As the Senior Strategic Buyer, you will have full ownership of your given category strategies responsible for delivering cost savings, quality improvement and improved supply chain alignment. The role plays a key part in aligning procurement activity to business objectives, unlocking value through strategic sourcing, strong supplier partnerships and continuous improvement. Develop, own and implement effective category strategies across allocated spend areas, including (but not limited to) metal fabrications, hydraulics, electrical components, and vehicle or machine parts. Manage end-to-end supplier activities within assigned categories, including contract negotiation, pricing and payment resolution, change management, supplier classification, and ongoing supplier performance and relationship management. Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key strategic suppliers to drive improvements in performance, innovation, quality, service delivery, and full commercial and regulatory compliance. Identify and deliver cost reduction and value creation opportunities through a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach, leveraging strategic sourcing initiatives, process optimisation, and close supplier collaboration. Act as the primary escalation point for all category-related supply issues, working cross-functionally to resolve challenges promptly and ensure continuity of supply and uninterrupted operations. Own the management of design changes and special or one-off parts, including re-specification, cost validation, and supplier engagement. Track and manage the implementation of design changes to ensure supply continuity and the seamless transition of parts into production.
