About the Role
Chelmer Village Surgery is expanding our reception/administrative team and we are looking to recruit an experienced part-time receptionist to join us, to provide a high standard of patient service and support our clinical team. The role is offered on a part-time, temporary basis, initially, with the potential for the position to become permanent. The contracted hours and working pattern are to be agreed and confirmed in discussion with the candidate.
The main responsibilities of the role will include:
1. Greeting and directing all patients;
2. Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required;
3. Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.;
4. Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints;
5. Advising patients of practice procedures;
6. Registering new patients;
7. Answering the telephone, promptly.
About the Candidate We are looking for a receptionist to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community. We would welcome applications from organised, adaptable, and friendly individuals, who are keen to help us provide high levels of customer service and have the following attributes:
8. excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner,
9. ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times,
10. experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations,
11. confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet";
12. strong IT and administration skills,
13. previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.
In addition to the above, the post-holder will need to:
14. demonstrate the ability to respond to the needs of a diverse population,
15. demonstrate the ability to work in pressured situations,
16. demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, and empathy with patients,
17. have excellent communication skills,
18. be confident to manage a variety of tasks efficiently,
19. have a good knowledge of general practice,
20. have a working knowledge of SystmOne - this would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
About Us Our team consists of 2 GP partners supported by a salaried GP. We have 1 x paramedic, 2 x practice nurses and 1 x HCA. We also have a variety of support staff from our PCN consisting of social prescribers and pharmacists and we are soon to be joined by a physician associate and a health and wellbeing coach.
The clinical staff are supported by our reception team/secretary/administration clerk and practice manager. We are a SystmOne practice and hold regular clinical meetings, staff meetings and MDT meetings involving our community services.
