Role Purpose: As a Lead BI QA at Allwyn, your primary mission is to drive excellence in BI quality assurance practices. In this role, you will guide and inspire a small QA team to optimise testing processes crucial to our BI solutions via a hands on approach. Your responsibilities include meticulous oversight of manual testing, strategic implementation of automated testing practices, and the cultivation of a collaborative culture within the BI QA team. You will be required to lead by example within this role as this is a small team. Your role is essential in upholding the high standards required in the Betting and Gaming (Lottery) industry while strategically transitioning towards increased automation. Furthermore, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and enforcing best practices, contributing to the strategic implementation of test automation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will be instrumental in propelling our testing processes to new levels of efficiency and reliability, aligning seamlessly with Allwyn’s overarching objectives. As the BI QA Test Lead, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of quality assurance at Allwyn BI function, contributing significantly to our commitment to delivering top-tier BI Solutions. Role Responsibilities: Leadership and Team Management Team Coordination: Lead, mentor, and supervise QA engineers specializing in Functional Data and BI testing. Workload Management: Assign tasks, prioritize workload, and ensure efficient use of resources. Performance Review: Evaluate team members' performance, provide constructive feedback, and ensure professional development. Test Strategy and Planning Test Planning: Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans tailored to Data platforms, Data Governance and BI projects. Risk Identification: Proactively identify risks in data flows, ETL processes, and BI/Reporting implementations, ensuring risks are effectively mitigated. Resource Estimation: Accurately estimate QA timelines, resource requirements, and budgeting efforts for projects. Quality Standards Enforcement: Ensure adherence to QA standards, governance, and compliance policies (e.g., data security, privacy, GDPR, etc.). Technical Oversight and Execution ETL and Data Pipeline Testing: Work with team in validation of complex data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness. Data Testing: Lead testing efforts on platforms such as AWS S3, Redshift, Athena, Spark, Hive, and other data technologies. BI Reporting Validation: Ensure the accuracy and usability of reports and dashboards developed using BI tools (Power BI, Qlik, etc.). Data Warehouse Validation: Responsible for testing data warehouse architecture, including dimensional modelling and data integrity validation. Data Governance tool validation: Responsible for automated data testing using Attacama and or any other data governance tools. Automation and Tooling Test Automation: Lead the creation and maintenance of automation test case repository, and support building and implementing new Test Automation solution for Data Platform and BI testing. Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD): Support Test automation with CI/CD pipelines, facilitating rapid delivery and deployment. Performance and Scalability Testing Performance Testing: Manage and oversee performance testing of data platform systems, BI applications, data ingestion, and data processing workloads. Scalability Validation: Ensure systems perform under expected loads and future growth scenarios, identifying bottlenecks proactively. Collaboration and Communication Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate closely with developers, data engineers, architects, project managers, business analysts, and end-users to ensure alignment on data quality and BI deliverables. Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear, concise, and regular reporting on testing status, progress, risks, and quality issues. Conflict Resolution: Resolve any issues or conflicts across development, QA, and business teams. Continuous Improvement Quality Metrics and Reporting: Develop, measure, and monitor QA KPIs, providing insight into product quality, test coverage, and improvement areas. Process Improvement: Continuously analyze current QA methodologies and introduce improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall effectiveness. Domain Expertise and Best Practices Industry and Domain Knowledge: Maintain strong understanding of business processes, data flow, and data management best practices relevant to the industry domain. Stay Current with Technology: Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in Data, BI, data governance, analytics, and quality assurance methodologies. End-to-End Responsibility End-to-End Validation: Own the full QA lifecycle for Data Platform and BI initiatives, from requirements review to final production deployments and post-deployment validation. Production Support Coordination: Support incident resolution and troubleshooting data or BI-related issues in production environments. Requirements 1. Technical Skills & Experience Requirements: AWS Data Platform Proficiency: IAM, Amazon S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR, Lambda, Kinesis, etc. Data Pipeline Development & Testing: Experience with ETL/ELT processes and pipeline validation. Ability to design and validate data transformations using AWS Glue, Airflow, Apache Spark, Python/PySpark. Data Warehouse Testing: Strong knowledge in validating AWS Redshift data warehouses and data marts. Data Quality & Governance: Experience with AWS Data Catalog, AWS Glue Crawlers, AWS DataBrew, and Data lineage tools. Dashboard & Report Validation: Extensive experience testing Power BI dashboards/reports for accuracy, functionality, usability, and performance. Power BI Data Modeling: Understanding of data modeling concepts, including DAX, Power Query, and complex data relationships. Performance Optimization: Ability to validate and optimize performance of complex Power BI reports and models. ETL & Data Validation: Skilled at testing data integration, data migration, and data transformation processes. QA Automation: Hands-on expertise in test automation tools, scripting for data validation and regression testing. Performance & Scalability Testing: Experience conducting performance testing, benchmarking, and scalability validation for Data platform solutions. SQL Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL for data validation, queries, and troubleshooting. Python/Scripting Languages: Proficient in Python/PySpark scripting for data processing and test automation. Testing: Jira (Zephyr/Xray) and TestRail. DevOps & CI/CD Integration: Familiarity with CI/CD Integration tools and technologies. Leadership & Managerial Requirements: QA Strategy & Leadership: Ability to develop and execute test strategies, plans, and frameworks. Team Management: Proven experience leading QA teams, providing mentorship, training, and resource management. Stakeholder Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with technical teams, analysts, product owners, data engineers, Source Teams, and business stakeholders.
