Job Summary
Halton 0-19 team are looking for passionate and skilled School Nurses (Specialist Community Public Health Nurses) to join our dedicated and forward-thinking 019 team. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in improving the health and wellbeing of children, young people, and families. You will lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (519), working in partnership with schools, families, and other agencies to identify health needs early, reduce health inequalities, and safeguard vulnerable children.

Main Duties
* The named School Nurse will be responsible for co‑ordination of the School Health Plan with their named schools on an annual basis.
* Contribute to an integrated Public Health Nursing Service by linking to education settings and other partner agencies.
* Lead on the recommended health assessment and reviews, including supporting mid‑teens reviews and transition assessments.
* Undertake comprehensive health assessments for identified children and young people, including annual assessments for those in local authority care.
* Contribute to the delivery of the national immunisation programme for school‑aged children.
* Perform home visits to children and families, advising on all aspects of health as appropriate.
* Work in partnership with key stakeholders to safeguard and protect children and young people.
* Organise, facilitate and participate in health promotional and educational activities in schools and community settings.
* Ensure children not in employment, education or training, or children educated at home receive the universal offer.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse.
* Community Specialist Practitioner in Public Health (School Nurse).
* First level degree.
* Mentorship Qualification.
Experience
* Post registration experience.
* Experience of working in the community and/or with children, young people and their families.
* Safeguarding of children and implementation of policy and procedures with evidence of training/updates.
* Experience of working with vulnerable children.
* Multi‑disciplinary/multi‑agency working.
* Working understanding of the Healthy Child Programme.
* Knowledge and understanding of national and local current Public Health outcomes and inequalities.
Skills & Knowledge
* Demonstrate leadership skills.
* Has knowledge of Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with children, young people and professionals about a wide variety of issues.
* Demonstrates ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team.

Job Specific Requirements
* The ability to travel independently across the Trust.
* Ability to work weekends/evenings according to Service requirements as part of an all‑year round Service.
* The ability to work flexibly from a number of bases in Halton and provide cover in accordance with Service needs.
