Job Title: Roofing & Cladding Project Designer
About the Role
We are a growing roofing and cladding contractor based in Manchester, specialising primarily in refurbishment and remedial works across commercial and industrial buildings. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Roofing & Cladding Project Designer to join our team.
This role will involve producing technical designs and detailed drawings for refurbishment and replacement projects typically ranging from £10k to £1m, working closely with the commercial and operations teams to deliver practical, buildable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Producing detailed roofing and cladding design drawings for refurbishment projects
* Developing technical details and design solutions based on site conditions and project requirements
* Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications and survey information
* Coordinating designs with project managers, estimators and site teams
* Preparing fabrication and installation drawings where required
* Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers regarding system details and specifications
* Supporting the pre-construction and tender process with design input
* Assisting with value engineering and practical build solutions
* Supporting the project team during the delivery phase with technical queries
Requirements
* Previous experience designing roofing and cladding systems (refurbishment experience preferred)
* Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
* Good understanding of roofing systems (built-up, single ply, metal cladding, rainscreen etc.)
* Proficiency with AutoCAD (3D modelling experience beneficial)
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Ability to develop practical, buildable design solutions
* Full UK driving licence preferred
