About the Role
Caring, compassionate, skilled, meticulous, and enthusiastic – these are the words we use to describe the world‑class nurses at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Flamingo Ward is a busy 21‑bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit that cares for children and young people with complex heart and lung problems. The unit treats pre‑ and post‑operative congenital heart disease patients, tracheal patients, and those in heart failure. We are a national heart and lung transplant centre and also care for patients ‘bridging to transplant’ on Berlin hearts. We offer a fantastic world‑class education programme to help you develop your specialist knowledge and skills.

Working Pattern
This role involves a mix of long days, nights, and weekends. We will not be accepting applications from newly registered practitioners for these vacancies. If you have not worked in the UK as a nurse for at least 12 months, please direct your application to Nursing.Jobs@gosh.nhs.uk.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high‑quality nursing care to children and families.
* Act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner.
* Assist in the safe, effective, and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
* Promote a progressive attitude to continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence‑based practice.
* Undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Ward Manager.
* Be familiar with and adopt the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officer’s vision for Compassion In Practice (NHS Commissioning Board Dec 2012).
