We are looking to appoint a specialist science teacher. The successful candidate will be, or if an ECT, has the ability to become, an inspirational classroom practitioner and there is a comprehensive induction programme in place to support new staff.
The science team is very supportive with a broad range of specialisms across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There are two full time lab technicians and science is housed in refurbished accommodation. All teachers have their own laboratories, appropriately equipped for each specialism, with laptop and projector. Triple Sciences are offered as part of the KS4 options and all other students study the combined science GCSE course. Our science department has a reputation for being forward thinking and innovative and is a leading department in our whole school work on Rosenshine.

Ofsted (Nov 2023) described our school as truly comprehensive where pupils are happy, kind and respectful and where teachers and leaders are proud to work. Frederick Gough School in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, is a secondary community school for children aged 11-16 with around 1,340 students on roll.
When the school opened in 1960 it was called Ashby and then Bottesford Grammar School, then being renamed Frederick Gough Grammar School after the first Chair of governors, Alderman Frederick Gough. It became a comprehensive school in 1969, linking with Ashby Girls' Secondary School.
In 2014 Frederick Gough was part of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme and gained several new or improved features, including a 3G Sports Pitch, sports block and hall and English block.
