Your Role
Stockport Borough Council is developing new children’s homes across the borough, creating “Stockport homes for Stockport children”. As part of our capital development works, we have a brand‑new children’s home that needs a committed staff team to provide outstanding care for children and young people.
As Deputy Manager, you will work alongside the Manager and other Deputy Managers. You will hold responsibility for the daily leadership and management of a registered children’s home and linked services, ensuring the service promotes and safeguards the welfare of children and young people and delivers positive outcomes.
You will supervise and support staff to deliver the necessary care, managing complexity, risk, and vulnerability. You must be familiar with the Ofsted inspection framework, the quality standards governing children’s homes, and be able to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of the home’s work.
About You
We are looking for someone with proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children/young people, their families and professionals involved in their care. Knowledge of disability, trauma, attachment, and contextual safeguarding is required.
Experience in supervising, inspiring, and leading staff with demonstrable competence in effective assessment, risk management, strengths‑based care planning and statutory childcare services is essential. You should have extensive experience relevant to residential care of children and be familiar with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
You should hold a Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English and strong IT skills are required.
