Job Title: Level 2 Teaching Assistant - SEMH School (TEAM TEACH Trained)
Location: Oldham, Lancashire
Salary: £90 per day (PAYE)
Start Date: 1st September
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a special educational needs and mental health (SEMH) school in Oldham, Lancashire. As a specialist in supporting children with challenging behaviours, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing their development and enhancing their educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting with the educational and social development of pupils under the guidance and supervision of the classroom teacher.
* Providing support to children with emotional and behavioral difficulties, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
* Employing the TEAM TEACH techniques to de-escalate conflicts quickly and effectively while maintaining a safe learning environment.
* Establishing a supportive and understanding relationship with students, practicing patience and empathy in all interactions.
* Collaborating with teachers and senior leadership to create individual education plans and behavior management strategies.
* Monitoring and evaluating students' responses to learning activities and adjust support strategies accordingly.
* Contributing to a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages pupils to engage in learning.
* Maintaining accurate records of students' progress, challenging behaviors, and any issues that arise.
Essential Requirements:
* Valid TEAM TEACH Level 2 certificate, obtained within the last 12 months.
* Experience working with challenging young people in any setting.
* Flexibility to commit to the scheduled working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
* Resilience to handle the demands of working in an SEMH environment.
* Current DBS on the update service.
* Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with students and colleagues.
* Reliable with a strong commitment to the role and the students' development.
Desirable Attributes:
* Previous experience working in an SEMH school or similar setting.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection regulations.
