Part time Clerk to Governors
From January 2026 Grade F - 140 hours per year (£18.10 per hour). The governors of Tolworth School wish to appoint a highly organised and self-motivated clerk to join our school. The post holder is accountable to the governing body, working effectively with the chair of governors, and with the headteacher and other governors. The clerk to the governors will ensure the smooth running of the governing body; preparing agendas and meeting papers, taking accurate and well-constructed minutes, giving administrative support, keeping records and up-to-date information on policies and date of reviews, and providing procedural and legislative advice to the governing body.
Responsibilities

* Providing procedural and legislative advice to the governing body.
* Attend and support meetings, ensuring the smooth running of the governance process.
* You must have excellent organisational, communication and ICT skills.
* You should have an interest in education, be reliable, proactive, efficient and well organised.
* The role will require good listening and interpersonal skills.
* You should be professional, friendly and approachable and able to deal with confidential matters.
Details
* This is a part-time role, covering three full governing body meetings and ten committee meetings per school year. Meetings are held in term time.
* Full governing body meetings and committee meetings usually take place at 7:30pm.
* The post holder is also expected to attend all relevant training events and briefings.
* Paid through payroll for hours worked on a monthly or termly basis and receives an included amount for leave. Hours payable include the whole meeting process (emails, calls and agenda preparation, writing up and distributing minutes) and attending regular training events.
