As a Projects Apprentice at Portakabin you will be based at our Peterborough Hire and Service Centre. Your role will be supporting the team to assistance with the co-ordination and implementation of a variety of projects. You will learn what needs to be achieved to deliver successful projects; utilising resources to support with the management of projects whilst building an appreciation for costs, the need for good planning, organisation, leadership, management and communication skills. Our professional apprenticeship programme has been developed to ensure you are supported throughout every step of your journey. Your 2-year apprenticeship will be delivered through a blended learning approach supported by our learning provider, Heart of England. You will be stretched, challenged and supported by a business that views your professional development as a priority. During the programme you will complete a Level 4 Associate Project Management apprenticeship.Role Details:• Annual Salary - £20,000• Role based: Peterborough Hire and Service Centre, PE4 5ET• Contract type: 36.25 Hours Per Week • Annual leave of 25 days per annum plus bank holidays In this role you will be required to:• Support with the management of stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.• Communicate with a variety of audiences and developing your ability to negotiate.• Have an awareness of project budgets and build an understanding of planned and actual costs.• Determine, control, and manage changes to the scope of the project, including assumptions, dependencies, and constraints.• Be involved with monitoring the progress of projects.• Identify and monitor project risk or opportunity, plan and implement responses to them, contribute to risk registers.• Understand the resources required to successfully deliver a project, including colleagues, sub-contractors, and how to manage these.• Gain awareness of Health & Safety; and become confident challenging or raising concerns if something doesn’t look right; resilient in conversations with site teams.• Gain site based confidence; role is not purely office based; the candidate must feel comfortable working on active construction sites.• Become comfortable around heavy plant and logistics; including large cranes, HIABs, and lorries (often abnormal loads with escorts).• After a period you will conduct site visits and travel between locations.Essential Requirements and ApplyingWhat we’re looking for…. • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade 4 or above (A-C)• 2 A Levels Grade C – A* (or equivalent)• A candidate with a positive attitude, resilience and willingness to learn – be able to adapt quickly, learn technical processes, and manage varied environments.• Fantastic communication skills – both in person and virtually!• A strong understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint• Good organisation and planning skills• Practical problem solving mindset; able to assess access, constraints, enabling works, and technical challenges on site.• Experience working in customer service or a client facing role (desirable but not essential)• Full UK Driving License (desirable but not essential).
