The Project Engineering Manager will oversee the engineering aspects of a large-scale plant project. With a focus on utilizing a digital design interface, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all engineering processes align with the company's objectives and industry standards. In addition, the role involves managing various other special projects as required. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work 2 to 3 days per week at our Springfields location in Salwick, near Preston in Lancashire, England.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Management: Lead the engineering team in the design, development, and deployment of assigned scopes for the plant project. Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of project milestones. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
2. Digital Design Interface: Oversee the integration and utilization of the digital design interface in the engineering processes. Ensure that the digital design tools are up-to-date and meet the project's requirements. Collaborate with IT and design teams to optimize the digital interface for seamless project execution.
3. Team Leadership: Mentor and guide engineering teams to foster innovation and ensure the highest quality of work. Conduct regular team meetings to review project status and address any challenges. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
4. Special Projects: Manage and oversee other special projects, as assigned. Ensure that all special projects align with the company's strategic goals and are executed efficiently.
5. Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns. Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and partners to ensure the successful execution of the project.
6. Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all engineering processes and designs adhere to industry standards and regulations. Implement quality assurance measures to ensure the reliability and safety of the plant.
Qualifications:
7. Degree in Engineering, preferably in mechanical or chemical Engineering. Chartered Engineer preferred.
8. Minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
9. Experience with fusion energy or similar large-scale energy projects is highly desirable.
10. Proficiency with digital design tools and software.
11. Strong leadership and team management skills.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
13. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
