This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced multi-skilled engineer with proven leadership skills to step into a role where you'll have genuine ownership of your shift's engineering performance. You'll be working in a modern, highly automated environment, leading a skilled team, and playing a pivotal part in keeping production running smoothly 24/7. The Role Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll lead a team of 2-3 multi-skilled engineers per shift (plus apprentices and contractors when needed). You'll be responsible for: Allocating and prioritising work, providing technical support and coaching Responding to complex breakdowns and coordinating swift resolutions Monitoring asset performance (OEE, downtime, MTTR/MTBF) and driving improvements Ensuring preventive maintenance is completed on time and to standard Leading by example on Health & Safety and Food Safety compliance Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and digital-first reporting This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance people management with real-time problem-solving and performance optimisation. About You To succeed in this role, you'll bring: A recognised engineering qualification (NVQ L3 / HNC or equivalent) in mechanical or electrical disciplines Proven experience in FMCG or food manufacturing environments Strong fault-finding skills on PLC-controlled automated equipment Experience allocating work, coaching colleagues, and managing team performance A solid understanding of PUWER, LOLER, and other relevant safety legislation Confidence using CMMS systems (MaintainX experience advantageous) and analysing performance data Extra points if you have Lean/CI training (Six Sigma, 5S, SMED) or experience with pneumatic/steam systems.What's On Offer Competitive base salary plus shift allowance and overtime 4-on-4-off rotating days/nights (42 hours average per week) 33 days holiday (inc. bank holidays) Company pension Generous staff discount on pet food Clear progression pathway towards Maintenance Manager or specialist CI roles, with funded trainingInterested?
