Entering Alltruck as our Assistant Rental Manager, you will be responsible for managing all logistical aspects of the rental operation for a large diverse fleet of commercial vehicles operated by a large cross section of business clients, working always to demonstrate a yes can-do culture.
Working closely with the Vehicle Movements Coordinator, you will ensure that our vehicles are delivered to our clients in a “ready to rent” condition, ensuring that our customers' expectations are met each time.

Managing and supporting the team through effective 1:2:1’s and appraisals or providing corrective coaching on a day-to-day basis is essential for success in this role.
It’s a fast-paced environment, so your ability to think on your feet and manage and influence others is key to success in this role.
Your Responsibilities
* Embed a robust ready-to-rent and yard check process for the rental department and ensure continuous monitoring - Ready to Rent (R2R). Motivate and encourage our team to achieve a high level of R2R vehicles.
* Ensure that for every rental agreement raised, evidence of vehicle compliance, a signed rental agreement, and signed vehicle check sheets exist for each hire/de-hire.
* Be proactive in negotiating bespoke solutions to each rental request—seek first to understand customer requirements and provide solutions that meet those needs without compromising Alltruck’s profit margins or resources.
* Negotiate with suppliers for third-party resources, such as cross-hire vehicles, ensuring costs are controlled and purchase invoices are processed promptly.
* Assist the Rental Manager in general yard management, making efficient and effective use of available space.
* Be capable of challenging customer demands when necessary and resolve queries or complaints positively and effectively.
* Work closely with the purchasing team to ensure onsite fuel tanks are adequately stocked and manage reordering of fuel when needed.
* Support the Rental Desk Operative in planning scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure fleet compliance.
* Monitor and report on all vehicles off the road, proactively minimizing downtime; vehicle availability is crucial for high utilization. Collaborate with workshops, body shops, and third-party suppliers to ensure swift vehicle recovery.
* Recognize that rental supports other departments; collaboration is essential, so work closely with relevant teams.
* Ensure disposals are made available and swapped out of the rental fleet in a timely manner.
* Coordinate with the Accounts team to ensure all sundry trading costs are accounted for and reconciled.
* Work with the Fleet team to ensure replacement vehicles are available when needed, finding solutions to complex problems.
* Maintain a big-picture understanding of Alltruck and how decisions impact the wider team.

You will need
* Prior experience working within the commercial vehicle environment.
* Experience in vehicle Rental Management is advantageous.
* Experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
* Leadership and organizational abilities.
* Full UK driving license.
* Experience in driving/transport, with knowledge of relevant legislation and requirements to support the driving team.

This is a full-time, permanent role.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, including a 60-minute unpaid lunch break (42.5 hours per week).
Participation in Saturday rota systems may be required.
