About the role: We wouldn’t be able to positively impact the way the world shops without our passionate team members - who keep our business running, our vans delivering, our customers' products picked and packed and our proprietary technology operating at optimum levels. Both behind the scenes within the warehouses and across the front end of the customer experience which means we now have an opportunity for a Head of Fleet, Transport and Central Operations to join the team. You will be accountable for the strategic and operational leadership of the transport and fleet functions. This includes leading the LGV Transport Operations and the Fleet Management teams, ensuring optimal performance, compliance, safety, innovation, and cost efficiency. You will lead a team of senior managers and support teams to deliver business KPIs, develop strategic initiatives, and drive continuous improvement across the transport and fleet space. You will be - skills & responsibilities: - Define, communicate, and implement the transport and fleet strategy aligned to business objectives which include a strategy to reduce incidents/accidents and to promote a safe culture - Lead and develop leadership teams, ensuring robust succession plans and capability building. - Support and contribute to drive Ocado’s sustainability objectives, including fleet carbon reduction, BRC requirements and Net Zero - Develop the end to end asset management plan for our Fleet to drive down the whole life cost - Accountable for safe, legal, and efficient LGV operations across all sites. - Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements (O licence, driver hours, road safety). - Oversee budget control, cost efficiency, and KPI delivery (on-time performance, fleet availability, driver turnover, etc.). - Lead improvement initiatives across fleet utilisation, driver performance, and service delivery. - Oversee management and maintenance of 3700 vehicles (LGVs (500), vans (3500), minibuses, micro-mobility and Zoom fleet Circa 140 cargo bikes) - Purchase and procure all fleet assets for Ocado and retail partners and management of supplier performance, optimising contracts in place to drive service and cost. - Accountable for fleet technology (eg Dani device) to end users in terms of connectivity and accuracy to deliver a great customer experience - Maintain oversight of O'Licence management, HSE compliance, and accident investigation processes to promote a safety-first culture across transport and fleet teams. - Lead fleet development projects, vehicle specification, innovation pipeline and integrate future technologies and legislative changes into fleet and transport operations. - Ensure that the job role is undertaken in line with all training and Safe Systems of Work, as well as reporting requirements and in line with legislative requirements About you: - Proven leadership in large-scale transport /logistics - Overseeing large-scale fleets including procurement, maintenance, workshops and disposal (2500 vehicles - must have HGV, Van and Micromobility - CPC International in Road Haulage - Strong knowledge of O'Licence regulations, driver hours legislation, and transport compliance - Experience in the use of telematics/driver aids that have impacted safety improvement - Budget accountability, financial acumen, and contract management - Health & Safety leadership experience - Analytical and data-driven decision-making - Financial & commercial awareness - Current UK Driving Licence What you can expect to receive in return: At Ocado we believe in a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported, so you’ll find a safe and collaborative atmosphere that is as fresh as our produce as well as an award winning recognition programme and benefits package that includes includes a healthy work-life balance, extensive healthcare coverage, competitive salaries, and exclusive employee discounts: Flexible Work: Enjoy 30 days of 'work from anywhere' policy for a balanced life.
