Head of Operations (Submarine Rescue)

The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to take on the role of Head of Submarine Rescue Operations (HOSR). This is a critical leadership position responsible for the safe delivery of global submarine rescue operations. You will ensure the readiness of qualified personnel, oversee operational doctrine, and manage training assurance across a global team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a global, multi‑disciplinary team to deliver JFD’s Submarine Rescue Operations strategy
* Oversee operational training assurance, doctrine, and safety case delivery
* Manage the Global Longcast and allocate resources to meet contract and project needs
* Chair the Training & Competency Review Board and Operational Working Group
* Provide specialist input to new build projects and service contracts
* Ensure compliance with safety standards and participate in safety reviews (DARs/DACs/SRMs)
* Represent JFD in senior stakeholder engagements and client interactions
Qualifications and Experience
* Proven leadership of large, multi‑disciplinary teams (ideally 40+ people)
* Experience in operations at sea, preferably with underwater/diving/submarine background
* Strong safety assurance expertise
* Comfortable with international travel and flexible working patterns
* Experience in defence/offshore/marine sectors
* Budget and operational planning capabilities
Desirable
* Commercial subsea experience
* Familiarity with hyperbaric systems and marine/defence standards
* Experience with training frameworks and certification processes
Due to the requirements of this role, all candidates must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.
