Senior Sub-Contract Buyer
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Edinburgh Procurement function as a Senior Sub-Contract Buyer in our Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business.
Job Description
You will be responsible and accountable for the creation of Supplier Contracts to ensure commercial compliance in line with internal and external governance, contributing towards developing appropriate sourcing strategies at all phases of the product lifecycle and the management and delivery of material pricing required for Bids.
What You Will Do
* Put in place the appropriate Commercial Agreements, including internal and external Customer flow downs, NDAs, TAAs and Export Licences.
* Prepare the relevant RFQ and contract documentation packs such as Bid Packs, Contractual Terms, Price Agreements and Statements of Work.
* Create and present Contract Compliance packs for internal audit and to external government bodies or their agencies.
* Conduct market analysis of supplier pricing to ensure price reasonableness is achieved and reported (benchmarking).
* Plan and execute cost negotiations of supplier pricing and provide reporting for internal/external audit.
* Provide analysis of material pricing to support the Product Cost Review Boards for NPI, highlighting cost reduction opportunities in line with declared project/product targets.
* Collaborate with Design Engineering to understand product route maps so market research can identify capable and sustainable sources of supply.
* Identify and encourage supplier competition for material requirements, using the Supply Review Board (SRB) process.
* Prepare varied lifecycle management reporting such as procurement plans outlining status and progress of material sourcing, contracting compliance and bid support.
* Manage supplier delivery performance (of NPI contracts) throughout the contract lifecycle per defined KPIs.
* Manage the material budget associated with NPI, reporting on revenue forecasting and estimate to complete.
* Identify and manage risk and opportunity, working collaboratively with suppliers and integrated project team members.
* Deploy the appropriate SAP activity to carry out your job effectively, especially in relation to the creation of compliant contracts.
What You’ll Bring
* CIPS preferred but not essential.
* Exposure to or understanding of contract terms & conditions.
* Working knowledge of trade/ex‑export compliance.
* Good negotiation skills.
* Ability to influence.
* Attention to detail.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* IT skills (MS Office & SAP knowledge preferred).
* Innovative mindset.
Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional personnel security controls such as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, which could include meeting the eligibility requirements for the Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
