About the role:
As our Recovery Navigator, you will focus on providing appropriate, effective interventions and treatments to people with long-term mental health needs, and their carers (including friends and relatives) and supporters in the community. Your role is to enable and assist them in meeting daily health, social care, and wellbeing needs, aligned with personal recovery goals, and to facilitate engagement with mainstream services.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
* Building trusting and collaborative relationships with service users.
* Co-producing, implementing, and reviewing recovery plans, crisis plans, and other self-management tools such as Wellness Recovery Action Plans, in partnership with service users, following best practices.
* Case managing and coordinating support, liaising effectively with professionals, agencies, and other parties involved in the support of service users to ensure effective delivery. Working closely with colleagues and building strong partnerships with other agencies such as health, social care, and voluntary services. Supporting service users to access these services.
* Identifying, assessing, contributing to, maintaining, and managing risk to ensure safety, using a positive risk-taking approach, and adhering to health and safety policies to ensure safeguarding issues are properly managed.
* Providing specialist support to women using the service, and offering advice and guidance to team members regarding women’s mental health issues.
* Providing specialist support and screening related to domestic abuse and sexual violence, and advising on pathways into relevant services.
* Participating actively in supervision and reflective practice, seeking advice and support proactively.
* Promoting and facilitating service user involvement and inclusion within the service and community.
* Contributing to project work, development initiatives, and policy implementation under guidance from management.
* Maintaining hope and optimism for individuals, with high expectations for recovery, and using lived experience (if appropriate) to support recovery positively.
Ideal candidate requirements:
* Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to GCSE level/NVQ 2 or higher.
* IT skills including Word, email, and internet use.
* Knowledge of support needs for people with mental health needs.
* Understanding of equal opportunities issues.
* Knowledge of health and safety, especially related to mental health.
* Understanding of safeguarding policies for adults and children.
* Knowledge of the specific needs of working with vulnerable women.
* Significant experience working with people with mental health or complex needs.
* Experience supporting victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
* Experience conducting needs and risk assessments and support planning.
* A full, valid driving license and access to transportation (desirable).
