About the role
Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust is recruiting a part‑time staff nurse for the West Berkshire health visiting team, supporting children and families aged 0‑5 within the local area.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with the HV team to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), particularly 6–8 week postnatal contacts, providing support to families in a range of community settings under the direction of the Health Visitor.
* Plan and deliver health‑enhancing activities for children and families, including groups, child health clinics, developmental reviews, and individual support, using the Solihull approach for behaviour management, parenting skills, and care programmes for vulnerable families.
* Support breastfeeding and parent‑infant relationships in line with UNICEF UK Baby‑Friendly Initiative standards, contribute to the Chat Health text service, and maintain awareness of local safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Work in partnership with Children’s Centres and Early Years settings to promote health and wellbeing, and undertake additional responsibilities within the team under Health Visitor direction.
* Act as a practice supervisor for pre‑registration nursing students and new staff, supporting placements and learning environments, and participate in clinical, management and child protection supervision.
* Liaise with agencies to provide integrated support for families, deliver evidence‑based care, contribute to teaching programmes and training for students and new staff, and work within the staff nurse competency framework.
Essential Requirements (Must Haves)
* NMC registration.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication skills.
* Flexible and positive approach.
* Must be a car driver with use of a car and be prepared to travel to various sites.
