What you will be doing

As our Archaeological Investigator, you will carry out rapid investigation and assessment of a range of archaeological monuments in support of urgent Historic England regional casework, focusing on the understanding of landscapes and monuments across a range of rural and urban environments, as part of an interdisciplinary research team.

Contribute to other research projects on landscapes, monuments and historic places in support of Historic England’s Corporate Plan, including national strategic projects, regional casework and English Heritage support projects.

Gather, analyse and interpret field data and research material, and disseminate the findings in a clear and exemplary fashion, to inform the protection and management of the historic environment.

It is expected that this post will be held by someone with experience in the archaeological recording, analysis and interpretation of landscapes, earthwork monuments and historic places.

Who we are looking for

* Proven experience of historic environment investigation and analysis and of using documentary and archival sources
* A high-standard academic and/or professional qualification in archaeology, history, historical geography, landscape studies, or demonstrable equivalent experience
* Experience of measured survey and production of analytical plans, using traditional or modern methods.
* Good organisational and self-motivational skills, including the ability to work to tight timetables
* Clear ability or potential to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team
