Job Title: Business Development Manager (Part-Time)
Location: Broomhall Community Centre, Sheffield
Hours: 15 hours per week (flexible working available)
Contract: 24 months fixed-term (with potential to extend subject to funding)
About Broomhall Community Centre
Broomhall Community Centre is a welcoming and inclusive hub in the heart of Sheffield. We provide space, activities, and support for local residents, community groups, and partner organisations, helping to build a stronger, more connected community. We employ four workers: a bookings/building manager, an activities manager, a support & advice worker and a cleaner. As we grow our reach and impact, and as our organisation becomes more complex, we are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help us manage operations, strengthen our sustainability and develop new opportunities.

Role Overview
The Business Development Manager will lead on identifying and securing new income streams, building strategic partnerships, and increasing the centre’s visibility and usage. They will manage staff and new projects, taking an executive role and being accountable to the Board of Trustees. This is a key role focused on ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of the centre, while remaining true to our community-focused values.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with the Board of Trustees and staff to develop and implement a business development strategy aligned with the centre’s mission and goals.
* Identify and pursue funding opportunities including grants, contracts, and social investment. Coordinate and support applications and monitoring.
* Lead on developing and managing centre and project budgeting.
* Develop partnerships with local organisations, businesses, and stakeholders to support joint initiatives and community development.
* Monitor the hire of community spaces and facilities, aiming to maximise usage and revenue from room bookings and events.
* Monitor the efficacy of marketing and communications, ensuring social media, the website, and promotional materials are up to date and accurate.
* Manage staff including supervision and appraisals, helping them to coordinate their work and achieve their individual potential. Support them to explore opportunities for social enterprise development, training, and community-led projects.
* Ensure centre policies and procedures are kept relevant and up to date.
* Lead on monitoring, evaluation, and impact reporting to funders and stakeholders.
Person Specification
* Proven experience in business development, fundraising, income generation and budgeting in the voluntary, public, or private sectors.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Managing Staff
* Experience of writing successful funding bids or securing income through partnerships and services.
* Ability to work independently, be proactive, and think strategically.
* Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and community empowerment.
* Knowledge of the voluntary/community sector in Sheffield or similar settings.
* Experience in marketing, digital communications, or social media.
* Understanding of social enterprise or community-led business models.
