Children's Community Clinical Support Worker
Job reference: 361-7910285, Band 3, Grade NHS AfC. Contract: Permanent, Part time – 16 hours per week (4 afternoons/evenings between 15:30‑21:00). Site: QEII Hospital, Town Welwyn Garden City.
Salary: £25,760 – £27,476 per annum pro‑rata plus a 5% High Cost Area Supplement.
Job overview
We are recruiting a Children’s Community Clinical Support Worker for the Children’s Continuing Care Team, which provides specialist child‑specific respite services to children and families with complex health needs in the home across East & North Hertfordshire.
Main duties of the job
* Independently deliver specialist nursing care within family homes, including enteral feeding, tracheostomy care, ventilation support, seizure management and oxygen administration.
Qualifications & Training
* NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent.
* Progress and completion of QCF Level 3.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
Previous Experience
* Experience working with children or in a health‑care setting.
* Experience with disabled children.
Skills
* Effective communication in a variety of settings.
* Ability to work independently following a care plan without a registered nurse present.
* Prioritisation of care and adherence to guidelines.
* Organised and proactive.
* Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting.
* Flexibility and team participation.
* Basic IT skills or willingness to develop.
* Interest in developing a career within Children’s Community services.
Knowledge
* Understanding of the role’s requirements.
* Infection control and universal precautions.
* Basic NHS knowledge.
* Clinical observation and complex health needs awareness.
Other requirements
* Travel to service users in rural locations within strict timeframes.
* Availability for night shifts if requested.
