Description Wood has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Manager, Corporate and Transformation to join our team on a permanent basis. You will shape and deliver clear, consistent and engaging communications that help strengthen Wood’s corporate narrative and support the company’s transformation. As a leader within the Communications function, the role takes ownership for the design, quality and effective delivery of high functioning corporate communications, both internally and externally, setting best practice and supporting excellence across the team. This role is open to hybrid working from our Aberdeen office. LI-hybrid The Role The role focuses on designing, planning and delivering corporate communications activities, ensuring messages are accurate, aligned and effectively executed across key channels as well as strengthening Wood’s media presence through purposeful, strategic storytelling, meaningful media relations and disciplined media posting. You will work closely with the Communications and Marketing teams, HR, Legal, functional and business leaders, as well as external media, agencies, suppliers and partner organisations. The role is responsible for creating and delivering communication plans and outputs, shaping messaging, standards and processes, and providing insight and recommendations to communicators and business leaders. You will also identify, escalate and mitigate communication risks and sensitivities, and hold line management responsibility to ensure high‑quality delivery, alignment and ongoing professional development. Create employee‑focused content such as announcements, FAQs, intranet articles and presentations Ensure materials are consistent, accessible and aligned to the overall change narrative Reputation & Media Activity Shape and lead effective media relations, working with central teams to ensure timely, accurate and aligned responses Shape clear, compelling story angles aligned to corporate priorities to enhance visibility and reputation Build strong relationships with key trade publications, identifying opportunities for features, commentary and proactive pitching Develop clear, compelling story angles aligned to corporate priorities to enhance visibility and strengthen Wood’s reputation Proactively identify issues and opportunities where Wood can offer unique insights, working with leaders and peers to shape compelling positions and thought leadership Develop and execute integrated editorial plans and content calendars aligned to enterprise priorities Oversee press release activity, media monitoring, performance reporting and maintenance of accurate, segmented media lists, including Cision management Continually improve PR processes to drive consistency, quality and efficiency. Manage and coordinate inbound press office enquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses Monitor reputation issues, providing strategic communications counsel to support effective reputation management Act as the focal point for media/communications emergency response processes, guiding best practice and maintaining up to date response templates and documentation to ensure readiness Support Change & Transformation Communications Develop and deliver communication activities for transformation programmes, organisational updates and operational changes. Create employee‑focused content such as announcements, FAQs, intranet articles and presentations Ensure materials are consistent, accessible and aligned to the overall change narrative Collaboration & Leadership Work closely with colleagues across Communications, HR, Legal, Marketing and business functions to ensure alignment Provide guidance to regional or functional communicators on messaging and execution when required Provide trusted counsel and strategic communications advise to senior business leaders Help lead the smooth operation of the Communications team by sharing insights, best practice and learnings Provide line‑management support to designated team member, including objective setting, coaching, performance management and development planning Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture within the Communications team, as an important leader within the function Ensure work allocation, feedback and development activities are aligned to team and organisational priorities Channel Management Manage content planning and scheduling across primary internal communication channels Ensure content is accurate, engaging and aligned with corporate messaging Maintain channel hygiene and contribute to improved reach, clarity and engagement Planning, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Track communication activity and performance against agreed metrics Monitor the effectiveness of campaigns and recommend improvements Lead the development of tools, templates and processes that uplift communication quality and consistency Qualifications At Wood, we are committed to equal opportunities and welcome all talented individuals to consider joining our team.
