Overview
A well‑established mechanical and electrical building services contractor is looking to appoint a developing Health & Safety Advisor to support projects across South Wales.
This role would suit either:
* an early‑career Health & Safety Advisor, or
* someone currently working as an Assistant / Junior H&S Advisor who is ready to step up into a more autonomous role with the support of an experienced team.
The company delivers complex M&E and building services installations, including mechanical systems, electrical services, HVAC, public health and plant‑room‑based works across commercial and public‑sector environments.
The Role
Working alongside project managers, engineers and site teams, you will support the day‑to‑day Health & Safety function across multiple live projects.
Ideal for someone with a practical construction or M&E background who wants to build long‑term experience as a contractor‑side H&S professional.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out site inspections and safety audits across building services projects
* Supporting risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work
* Delivering toolbox talks, site inductions and safety briefings
* Providing practical H&S advice to site teams and subcontractors
* Assisting with accident and incident investigations
* Supporting continuous improvement of safety standards and culture
* Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, company procedures and client requirements
About You
Essential:
* Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within construction (building services, M&E, or similar environments preferred)
* A recognised Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH, NCRQ or equivalent)
* Practical understanding of site‑based construction activities
* Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with site teams
* Full UK driving licence
Highly desirable:
* Experience working within mechanical & electrical building services
* Background as a trade operative or technician transitioning into H&S
* Experience supporting RAMS, toolbox talks and site inspections
* First Aid, Fire Warden or similar site‑based certifications
