About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CMM Inspector to join our Quality Control team in Wolverhampton. This position plays a key role in supporting our manufacturing operations by ensuring the precision and quality of both internally produced and supplier-provided components. You will be responsible for reviewing and developing CMM programs, performing inspections, and supporting continuous improvement within the Quality Team.
The role follows a day shift schedule from Monday to Thursday (7:308:00 AM start, 4:155:00 PM finish) and Friday (7:308:00 AM start, 11:30 AM12:00 PM finish). Overtime or additional shifts may occasionally be required.
Key Responsibilities: Perform inspections using Zeiss Calypso and PC-DMIS systems.
Develop and verify CMM programs from CAD models and engineering drawings.
Conduct AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI) and CMM program prove-outs.
Collaborate with the Quality Team to enhance manufacturing processes.
Support lean initiatives and cost reduction activities.
Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment.
Carry out manual inspections using tools such as micrometers, height gauges, and shadow graphs.
Provide technical support for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
Train and support operator inspectors in CMM and manual inspection techniques.
Write non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support drawing reviews .
Participate in supplier visits and provide assistance with complex investigations.
Offer cross-functional inspection support across other Quality areas.
Skills & Experience: HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering.
Proficient with Zeiss Calypso, PC-DMIS, and OGP systems.
Experience in on/offline CMM programming using CAD models.
Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings .
Experience with CMM prove-outs, report verification, and equipment calibration .
Ability to communicate with CMM OEMs and support breakdowns or maintenance.
Skilled in First Article measurement and report generation (Q-Pulse preferred).
Capable of working independently and leading daily inspection activities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills across multiple departments.
Aerospace industry experience is highly desirable.
Analytical approach to root cause analysis and corrective action implementation .
Six Sigma Green Belt certification advantageous.
Experience with PPAP and APQP processes preferred.
