Salary: Pro Rata £45,615.20 FTE based on 42 hours per week (£20.83 per hour)
Part Time Position - 24 hours per week
Hours: rota basis covering 24/7, 365 days per year. On call working from home during out of hours
Main duties of the job
* Forensic examinations and obtaining forensic exhibits.
* Develop forensic strategies according to FFLM guidelines.
* Actively work in partnership with external MDTs and Police.
* First point of contact for victims, Police and Social Services to discuss referral pathways.
* Manage and promote the self‑referral pathway.
* Undertake holistic assessments including sexual health, mental health, and safeguarding.
* Support the continued quality improvement of the service.
* Work under the Forensic Science Regulator requirements.
* Obtain consent for Health and Forensic procedures.
Role overview
The role of Sexual Offence Examiner (SOE) is critical in providing victims of sexual assault with dedicated support and care. This position is available for registered nurses, midwives, RMNs or paramedics who are compassionate and committed to holistic care.
The SOE will receive full training and support to become a qualified Forensic Practitioner, with opportunities to undertake further higher education after one year in‑post.
Qualifications
* Qualified Registered Nurse, Midwife, or Paramedic.
* A minimum of 3+ years post‑qualification experience.
* Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and adults.
* Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
* Experience of autonomous working.
* Female applicants only due to a genuine occupational qualification under the Sex Discrimination Act.
* UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for occasional travel across SARC sites.
* Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting required.
