Job Title: Interim Financial Controller
Location: Milton Keynes ( 1 / 2 days per week in the office)
Duration: 3–6 months
Reporting To: Group Finance Director
Rate: £400 - £550 per day
We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Interim Financial Controller to support a period of transformation and systems integration. This role will play a pivotal part in leading the integration of finance systems and teams across multiple SME entities while ensuring smooth business-as-usual operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the integration of finance systems, including migration and optimisation of Sage
* Drive change management initiatives across finance teams to ensure successful adoption
* Deliver timely and accurate financial and management reporting
* Align and integrate SME finance teams into a unified finance function
* Providing support to Group FinOps Manager in day-to-day finance operations, ensuring process compliance and reporting accuracy
* Providing support to the Corporate Finance team in areas such as month end reporting.
* Partner with senior leadership to provide strategic financial insight and support
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting
Key Requirements:
* Qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA preferred)
* Proven experience in finance systems integration projects, ideally involving Sage Intaact, Sage 200 and Xero
* Strong track record of managing change within finance teams, including mergers, acquisitions, or structural realignments
* Excellent financial reporting and analysis skills
* Experience working within SME environments in fast-paced, dynamic settings.
* Must have hands-on experience and being able to get into the detail of both operational finance and financial reporting.
* Experience within private equity–backed businesses is highly desirable, including familiarity with PE expectations around performance metrics, reporting cadence, and value creation
* Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills
* Ability to operate autonomously and deliver results during transformation
