Hours: Split shifts – 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM & 2:45 PM - 6:00 PM (Term Time) / Full-day shifts during school holidays
Salary: Hourly rate dependant on qualifications and experience
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Minibus Driver & Play Worker to safely transport children to and from school while also providing high-quality care and engaging play opportunities. The role involves ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and enjoyment of children aged 3-13, both during transport and in a play setting. During school holidays, the role will expand to include organising and supervising school trips and activities.
Key Responsibilities:Driving Duties:
* Safely operate a minibus 16 seater to transport children to and from school, adhering to all road safety regulations.
* Ensure all passengers are seated safely and wearing seatbelts.
* Conduct pre- and post-journey vehicle checks and report any maintenance issues.
* Maintain a clean and tidy minibus at all times.
Play Worker Duties:
* Supervise children in a play setting, ensuring a safe, fun, and stimulating environment.
* Plan and deliver engaging activities that promote learning and development.
* Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
* Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure child welfare at all times.
* Assist with school holiday trips and outings, ensuring children are safe and well-supervised.
Essential Requirements:
* Valid UK driving licence with D1 entitlement (minibus category).
* Clean driving record with no major endorsements.
* Willingness to purchase an Enhanced DBS certificate (if not already held).
* Experience working with children aged 3-13 in a care or play setting.
* Ability to engage children with creative and fun activities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* A patient, responsible, and caring attitude.
Desirable Skills:
* Paediatric First Aid certification.
* Previous experience as a minibus driver.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
Working Conditions:
* Term-time split shifts (early morning and afternoon/evening).
* Full-day shifts during school holidays, including trips and activities.
* Interaction with children, parents, and school staff.
