Job Description:
The Service Manager is responsible for coordinating staff and resources to provide high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of service users. Ensuring their welfare and compliance with organizational standards, statutory, and contractual requirements. The role involves operating within legislative frameworks, promoting values and care ethos, and managing multiple supported living projects and community activities for adults and children.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Refer and assess new service users, developing personalized care and risk management plans.
2. Maintain good communication and relationships with service users, families, and professionals.
3. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practices, including relevant health and safety legislation.
4. Oversee environmental health, infection control, and safety regulations, including risk assessments and fire safety.
5. Work with CIW to understand standards and carry out statutory notifications.
6. Manage legal and statutory documentation related to the home.
7. Address maintenance issues promptly and effectively.
8. Monitor and investigate complaints, generate reports, and implement corrective actions.
9. Recruit, induct, and train staff, supporting their development.
10. Promote a culture of openness, honesty, and continuous improvement within the team.
11. Hold regular staff meetings and provide supervision and support.
12. Manage staff scheduling, including shift planning, absence, and holiday management.
13. Oversee medication management and ensure safety protocols.
14. Manage budgets, petty cash, and activity funds.
15. Safeguard service users and handle safeguarding issues effectively.
16. Work with personal representatives to ensure legal care plans, including DOLS applications.
17. Be on call out of hours for advice and incident response.
18. Participate in supervision, CPD, and strategic planning.
19. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
