Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate clinical pharmacist with a keen interest in emergency medicine and admissions to join our expanding integrated pharmacy team. You will become part of a unique team in a highly patient‑focussed role.

The successful candidate will be a specialist clinical pharmacist, with or able to work towards an independent prescribing qualification. You will work as part of a ward‑based team and across the wider East IHC, providing leadership and clinical expertise to other pharmacists and technicians within the IHC.

The post is based in the central area of North Wales with Wrexham Maelor Hospital as the base. Working and/or living in North Wales offers a range of opportunities, including access to the coast, lakes, mountains and city life in Chester.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main Duties of the Job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced pharmacist to join our medical pharmacy team who will relish the challenge of improving medication safety for patients within admissions and medicine. There will be opportunities to integrate within the multidisciplinary teams, support guideline, protocol and service development across Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, undertake quality improvement initiatives, review clinical practice and processes, develop staff and patient education and work with relevant teams to review incidents.

You will be self‑motivated with excellent communication, time‑management and interpersonal skills. Liaising with and influencing senior clinical staff and colleagues across all sectors of the East IHC – including primary, community and secondary care – is essential.

The successful candidate will benefit from working in a transformational department. We actively encourage career progression by offering funded places on the Independent Prescribing Course and Advanced Clinical Practice MSC, research and development opportunities, and professional development support.

Working for our Organisation
