SEN Teaching Assistant – Tameside
Location: Ashton-under-Lyne
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term (potential for permanent contract)
Working Hours: 8:15am – 3:15pm, term-time only
Pay: £89 - £100 per day, depending on experience and qualifications
Role Summary:
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a mainstream secondary school in Tameside to recruit a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant. You will support students across Years 7–11 who have a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and global developmental delay. The role involves both in-class support and targeted 1:1 or small group interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist students with EHCPs to access the curriculum and remain engaged
* Work closely with the SENCo and teaching staff to implement personalised learning strategies
* Provide emotional and behavioural support to pupils facing barriers to learning
* Track and monitor the progress of pupils you support
* Help deliver tailored interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social skills
* Assist in creating a safe, inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* A background in SEN, either in education or a care/support setting
* Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
* Experience working with students with autism, ADHD, or SEMH
* Team Teach, Makaton, or similar training (desirable, but not essential)
* A proactive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
