Stantec is seeking an experienced Senior Digital Design Lead / BIM Manager to oversee the strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of CAD and BIM standards across the Stantec Energy & Resources UK business. The role will lead the creation, governance, and continuous improvement of multi-platform design standards, ensuring consistency and quality across a wide range of engineering disciplines and software environments. The position involves hands-on BIM/CAD modelling work coordination between UK teams and our offshore design centre in Pune, with the ability to undertake model authoring when required. The successful candidate will lead a team of 3D BIM modellers and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of 3D modelling workflows using Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, and other relevant platforms.
This role supports complex projects across Waterpower & Dams, Transmission & Distribution, Renewable Energy, Nuclear, Waste & Generation, and Minerals & Resources, delivering high-quality BIM outputs aligned with project requirements, client expectations, and industry standards. The opportunity supports Stantec’s BIM capabilities across Information Management and 3D Modelling in line with ISO 19650.
As a Senior Digital Design Lead / BIM Manager you will work across the UK and international regions, including global design centres, and promote BIM adoption and digital delivery across multi-disciplinary teams.
You will develop BIM Execution Plans and Master Information Delivery Plans and Task Information Delivery Plans, ensuring alignment with the Exchange Information Requirements, and establish Common Data Environments, standards and procedures to support digital delivery per ISO 19650. You will oversee document/information management systems with review and approval workflows, providing guidance and checks on progress, quality and compliance throughout the delivery phase. Responsibilities
* Set strategy for CAD/BIM standards and governance across UK and offshore teams.
* Coordinate BIM/CAD modelling tasks between UK teams and the offshore design centre in Pune; perform model authoring when required.
* Manage and mentor a team of 3D BIM modellers; ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of modelling workflows using Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, and related tools.
* Develop BIM Execution Plans, Master Information Delivery Plans, and Task Information Delivery Plans aligned with Exchange Information Requirements.
* Collaborate with Information Management to establish Common Data Environments, standards, and procedures compliant with ISO 19650.
* Oversee planning and management of information management systems with review/approval workflows; support design and modelling teams through delivery, including progress, quality, and compliance checks.
* Support complex projects across targeted energy and resource sectors and contribute to high-quality BIM outputs that meet client expectations.
Qualifications
* Degree in a related Engineering, Architecture, or related subject; experience on a wide range of projects across sectors; energy/renewable project experience is useful.
* Experience in Common Data Environments using data management systems such as ACC/BIM360 and/or ProjectWise.
* Strong experience in project delivery in accordance with ISO 19650.
* Understanding of the benefits of different CDEs to support collaboration and information management; experience with various client platforms.
* Extensive experience in 3D design using Autodesk and Bentley products.
* Detailed understanding of BIM Execution Plans.
* Understanding of computational/parametric design or interest to develop skills in this area.
* Experience in mentoring junior staff.
* Strong communication skills adaptable to Clients, Leadership, UK and overseas teams.
