At Quest Global we are actively looking for Subject Matter Expert / Technical Manager - Fire and Gas Systems to join one of our projects based in Stockton-On-Tees or Aberdeen, England, United Kingdom. Hybrid / Remote working, with some visits to sites based in one or two other locations in UK Key Responsibilities Lead the design and specification of gas detection and fire suppression systems for fuel systems in gas turbine power plants. Ensure all designs comply with international and regional safety standards and codes (e.g., NFPA, IEC, ISO, ATEX). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety systems into fuel skid designs. Conduct hazard and risk analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety issues. Oversee installation and commissioning of safety systems, ensuring operational readiness. Develop and execute test protocols to validate system performance and compliance. Provide technical guidance and support during audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews. Key Competencies Minimum 16 - 20 years of experience in designing and implementing liquid and gas fuel systems for gas turbines. Proven expertise in gas detection technologies (e.g., infrared, catalytic bead, electrochemical sensors). Strong background in fire suppression systems (e.g., CO₂, FM-200, NOVEC 1230, water mist). In-depth knowledge of safety codes and standards applicable to fuel systems and turbine environments. Experience in hazard identification, HAZOP, and risk mitigation. Hands-on experience in system testing and validation. Experience in supplier vetting and engagement for safety system components. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Work Experience Qualification and Necessary Skills Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 15 - 20 years of experience in Gas Turbine design with hands-on exposure to full engine and component-level development. Demonstrated experience working within integrated product teams. Understanding of Manufacturability and Material application. Cost modelling experience is highly desirable. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Professional Attributes Demonstrates sound engineering judgment in solving moderately complex technical and operational challenges. Stays current with advancements in gas turbine repair and engineering best practices. Contributes as subject matter expert and mentor within their discipline. Effective communicator with the ability to influence and build consensus across teams Preferred Attributes Experience with London Underground or Transport for London (TfL) projects. Knowledge of gas turbine control systems, overspeed protection, and vibration monitoring.
