We have been restructuring our Manufacturing (Production and Packing) operations here at Burton Latimer and introduced a different leadership team. As a result, we’re introducing this new opportunity for our Burton Latimer site for an experienced operational perfectionist to come and help us ensure we can continue to feed the nation and employ local people for the future, by driving continuous improvement to future proof our equipment, processes and people operations. The role is focussed on standards which is core to the modus operandi.
The role will oversee a ‘cluster’ of our manufacturing plants/facilities, and will have leadership accountability for the multi-functional teams in them; as well as the standard performance and improvement objectives you’d expect for such a pivotal role.
What you will do
1. Lead all elements of the manufacturing process, in line with agreed practices, to ensure that plants run to required capability and capacity and the production plan is delivered reliably and profitably and developed in line with the manufacturing strategy.
2. Build a strong manufacturing team, across plants, providing inspirational and effective leadership, so that all team members are engaged, focused and delivering to their potential.
3. Ambitious for excellence (setting, meeting and exceeding strategic goals and objectives) and a focus on building long term business strategy
4. Uses external insight when making assessments and benchmarking performance and behaviour
5. Is creative/innovative and open minded in exploring opportunities and considering solutions
6. Lead the execution of the Food Safety and Safety, Health and Environment Strategy to ensure we consistently deliver safe product to specification, look after our people effectively and minimise our impact on the wider community.
7. Ensure all cluster facilities and services, (waste management, canteen whether delivered by Weetabix or third party), are legal and support Weetabix’s manufacturing requirements.
8. Create a continuous improvement culture across the cluster, embedding the adoption of best practice and the following of standard working procedures, to ensure that modern, cost-effective manufacturing practices are developed and embedded
9. Ensure appropriate resource levels are maintained to support the effective delivery of training, projects and NPD trials.
10. Ensure that engineering are fully integrated into all plant activities to ensure that proactive and reactive maintenance and the commissioning of new assets/capital deployment has minimal impact on productivity and performance to plan.

11. Lives and breathes safety and quality (with suitable relevant qualifications and appreciation and knowledge of varying legal and audit requirements in this discipline) and the Weetabix values
12. Delivers outstanding performance through outstanding leadership of multi-functional teams – both direct and indirect reporting lines
13. Understands the importance of data and KPI’s to continually drive the business forward
14. Understands what world class manufacturing is – either having worked in it, and/or by being curious
15. Stakeholder management is a key criteria for this role and we are looking for someone who can influence, build relationships, challenge and operate strategically
16. Is passionately focused on sustainable optimisation
17. Loves cereal (who doesn’t?!), but cerealsly (sorry bad joke!), they get the category and the challenges and opportunities that surround us
18. Experience of developing an autonomous workforce would be the cherry on the top (of the Weetabix)
19. We need this role to be all over the commerciality of our products so Business acumen is a must
20. Higher level education and relevant previous experience
21. Demonstrable operational understanding, together with significant exposure, gained in a large blue chip, best practice FMCG/CPG Environment
22. Fully conversant with modern manufacturing methodologies and planning systems.
23. Green Belt Six Sigma Certified and/or Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Systems
24. Proven leadership skills; ability to build teams that can inspire and motivate all levels of employees to deliver high performance organisation
