Mental Health Senior Support Worker, Young People
Location: Liversedge, West Yorkshire
Salary: £28,138.50 - £30,205.50 (based on experience)
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Essential Requirements
* Level 3 diploma qualification in care or equivalent, or willingness to work towards this.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
* Availability for training as scheduled on weekdays.
* Good written skills to produce basic reports and record information accurately.
* Basic IT skills (computer work, completing forms, using an online care system, writing emails).
* Good verbal communication skills and ability to listen to others.
* Ability to maintain a professional working boundary.
* Ability to remain calm in emergencies and support others during difficult situations.
Desirable Criteria
* NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care.
* Previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs.
Company Overview
Care in Mind provides residential services for young people aged 16-30 years old. The young people we care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties such as self-harm, behaviour, and emotional challenges. Our aim is to support them using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve individual goals and prepare for transition to adult life.
Responsibilities
* Promote independence by supporting young people with education, household tasks and general life skills.
* Update online care records and complete medication administration.
* Maintain general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring a homely environment.
* Manage incidents, de‑escalate challenging behaviours and complete required reports.
* Assist with self‑administration of medication, re‑engagement with education, accessing public transport and appointments independently.
* Support transition to community life, including social activities and community outings.
Qualifications and Experience
The role requires previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs, ideally as a Support Worker in a similar environment. We will provide full training, ongoing support and mentoring.
