Job Overview
The role of a Band 5 nurse is to assist the Ward Manager and deputies in delivering the day‑to‑day running of the service, ensuring a patient‑care‑focused ethos. The post-holder will take charge of day‑to‑day clinical and nurse management of the ward in the absence of more senior staff, supervise junior staff, and provide teaching for qualified and unqualified staff.

* Supervise and teach junior and unqualified staff.
* Deliver holistic, evidence‑based nursing care.
* Maintain clinical governance and quality of care.

Person specification
* Essential criteria
o NMC registered.
o Pre‑registration evidence in direct nursing care.
o Experience providing holistic nursing care.
o Interest in developing nursing skills.
o Clear understanding of contract of care and consent processes.
o Ability to document accurately.
o Basic IT skills.
* Desirable criteria
o Evidence of post‑registration study/training (POVA, Child Protection, Intermediate Life Support).
o Understanding of clinical governance framework.
o Evidence‑based practice implementation.
o Knowledge of incident reporting and policies.
o Ability to speak Welsh (desirable).
Eligibility
Band 5 qualified nurse within a psychiatric unit. Welsh and/or English speakers are welcomed.
