Position Summary
NHS Lothian Clinical Health Psychology Service is advertising a permanent 0.5wte Band 8A Applied Psychologist post in the Pain Management Service at Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical input to patients presenting with higher levels of psychosocial complexity associated with chronic pain. Deliver therapeutic rehabilitative interventions in 1:1 and group pain management programme formats, with patients seen in‑person or online (NearMe). Work closely with specialist pain physiotherapy colleagues and psychologists from other professional backgrounds. Provide clinical supervision to qualified team members, trainee psychologists and assistant psychologists. Take part in service audits, research and service development.
Collaborate with the wider Clinical Health Psychology Service comprising around 25 clinicians across 15 specialisms. Engage in peer‑based supervision, trauma‑informed reflective practice, Clinical Health Psychology training/CPD, networking and support. Liaise with the Pain Service at the Leith Community Treatment Centre for regular case discussion and consultation.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
PVG Scheme membership/record required. If not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult), an application must be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before commencing.
Part‑time (0.5wte) post – salary pro‑rata.
