Who We Are: Cingularity a highly specialised global fibre network provider enabling premium live broadcast TV transmission. Our obsession with quality, performance, and network resilience, has allowed us to deliver services for companies including Amazon Prime, Warner Brothers Discovery, and ATP Media, where we are trusted to carry the live TV signals destined for their global TV audiences. Cingularity was acquired by IMG Media in September 2022 to provide the expertise to guide IMG’s remote production evolution toward a hybrid model of fibre, satellite, cloud and IP. The Senior Architect Transmission Architect is a key technical leadership role responsible for defining and driving Cingularity's technology strategy and architectural vision for its global broadcast and network services. This role is critical in ensuring Cingularity remains at the forefront of broadcast technology, capable of delivering innovative and robust solutions for premium live event transmissions. We are looking for a Senior Architect to lead the design and architecture of complex broadcast workflows, network deployments, and transmission systems, ensuring they are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with business objectives. This individual will play a crucial role in evaluating and selecting new technologies, guiding engineering teams in best practices, and ensuring technical solutions are fit for purpose in a rapidly evolving media landscape. A strong understanding of both traditional broadcast technologies and emerging cloud-based solutions is essential. What You'll Do: Technology Strategy & Vision: Contribute to developing and refining Cingularity’s long-term technology strategy, aligning it with overall business goals and market trends. Proactively research and identify emerging technologies and industry best practices, assessing their potential impact and benefit to Cingularity's service offerings. Champion innovation and explore new technical solutions to enhance service capabilities, improve efficiency, and create competitive advantages. Solution Architecture & Design: Lead the architectural design of complex broadcast solutions, including contribution and distribution workflows, transmission systems, and network infrastructure. Develop high-level and detailed designs, ensuring scalable, resilient, secure, and operationally efficient solutions. Define and document architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices to be adopted across the engineering teams. Provide architectural oversight and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept to deployment and operational handover. Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as a technical authority within Cingularity, providing expert guidance and direction to engineering teams and pre-sales engineering teams on complex technical solutions. Mentor and coach engineers in architectural design principles, best practices, and emerging technologies. Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the engineering department. Act as a senior point of technical escalation (Tier 3/4) for critical and complex technical issues, working with engineering events and TOC teams to drive resolution. Technology Evaluation & Selection: Lead the evaluation and selection process for new broadcast and network technologies, platforms, and vendor solutions. Conduct thorough technical assessments, including proof-of-concepts and testing, to validate the suitability and performance of proposed technologies. Develop and present clear technological recommendations, considering technical merit, cost-effectiveness, operational impact, and strategic alignment. Workflow & Network Design: Design and optimise complex live broadcast transmission workflows, encompassing encoding, decoding, transcoding, routing, and monitoring. Architect robust and efficient network solutions for managed and unmanaged network environments, considering performance, resilience, and security requirements. Ensure designs adhere to industry standards and best practices for broadcast engineering and network operations. Cloud & IP Integration: Drive the integration of cloud-based technologies and workflows into Cingularity's service offerings, exploring opportunities for efficiency, scalability, and innovation. Architect hybrid and cloud-native solutions for broadcast contribution, distribution, and associated services. Maintain a strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their application within broadcast environments. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the Director of Engineering, CTO, and other stakeholders to ensure architectural alignment with overall business and technical strategy. Collaborate effectively with engineering teams, system engineers, event engineers, and operations teams to ensure successful solution design and implementation. Produce clear and concise technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and technology evaluations. Represent Cingularity at industry events and conferences, sharing technical expertise and insights. You Will Have The Following Strengths: Extensive experience (10 years) in a senior technical role within the broadcast and media industry, with a strong focus on broadcast architecture and transmission systems. Deep and broad knowledge of broadcast technologies and workflows, encompassing contribution, distribution, encoding, decoding, transcoding, routing, and monitoring. Expert-level understanding of IP networking principles, protocols (including multicast, QoS), and network architectures relevant to media transport. Proven track record of designing and implementing complex broadcast and network solutions for live event transmission. Strong experience in technology evaluation, vendor selection, and conducting proof-of-concepts. Demonstrable experience in architectural design methodologies and documentation. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices. Flexibility to travel internationally as required. Advantageous: Experience with cloud-based broadcast technologies and workflows (e.g., AWS Media Services, Azure Media Services, GCP Media CDN). Hands-on experience with network and broadcast equipment from leading vendors (e.g., Net Insight, Cisco, Arista, Imagine Communications, Grass Valley, Appear, MediaKind). In-depth knowledge of standard routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP. Familiarity with network monitoring and management systems (e.g., Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, Netbox, OpenNMS). Experience with automation and scripting in a broadcast or network environment (e.g., Python, Ansible). A degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
